Exploding light bulb when switched off???
Hi I just walked into my kitchen after hearing a smash. Turns out it was one of the bulbs blowing.
How could this happen the light was off and has been for around 5 hours.
It was not the actual glass section that exploded it was the lower portion.
Very strange to me i have never seen this happen before
Just had another look at it and it would appear that one bulb exploded leaving the fitting inside and another just blew out of the fitting but is still attached by a small bit of wire.
Not sure of the brand sorry.
what do you think could be the problem
The EXACT same thing happened to me 2 days ago!!
They're not 'Bridge' branded ones in a dark red and blue striped box are they?
I was thinking to myself that they've maybe shifted production to a cheaper country. I have my light shade facing down (no hole in it). I'm lucky it caught it, otherwise it would have smashed everywhere.
I had to wait til it cooled and take out the metal bit.
During the Renaissance inside the 17th Century a book was published called L'Arte Vetraria (The Art of Glass) by Antonio Neri, revealing the secrets of glass blowing and production. Venice became the centre of the glass blowing world. Nevertheless, locations in Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, England and Sweden were developing their own glass industries in what were referred to as forest glass houses, including Kosta Glasbruk (still in existence nowadays and known as Kosta Boda), a Swedish glassworks founded by two foreign officers in Charles XII's army. In 1676 there came another breakthrough within the glass business. George Ravenscroft developed a formula for making glass working with lead. The new lead glass stayed workable for considerably longer than other varieties of glass. Its weight and clarity led to glass makes making use of it without having decoration, developing attractive pieces with the glass alone. Much more attention was paid to the form of the glass itself, not what was adorning it.
How can we pick the proper glasses? It depends on just how much heat you will come across. You can find several colors and tints obtainable for you to opt for. You may wish to go for something that might be darker, or you could go for some thing that does not affect the way you perceive colors when you are performing your glass blowing. Why do we have to have safety glasses? If the glass which you are working on goes below 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, it may perhaps suddenly break into thousands of pieces. Parts of it may perhaps also pop whenever you have blowpipes cooling inside the pipe. To stay clear of all these, you've to keep your safety glasses on at all times. Do the workshops provide safety glasses? Check with the instructors or workshops prior to you go over. Most ought to give them, but for those who have special wants, it could be superior to obtain your own. You don't want to take a risk that the glasses they have can not fit you properly.
